Accredited organizations use evidence-based ANCC criteria to plan, implement and evaluate the highest quality NCPD activities. Nurses can choose the highest caliber of education to meet certification or licensure requirements.
The Forum for Shared Governance is an organization that promotes and accredits healthcare organizations in shared governance. Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital has demonstrated an excellent score in the shared governance using a reliable instrument, such as the Index of Professional Nursing Governance, which measures staff and manager perceptions within the organization. The organization opted to apply for accreditation to the Forum of Shared Governance. Our organization is the 30th hospital to be granted accreditation in shared governance both nationally and internationally and the first in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In less than a month, we received an official letter and announcement from the CEO and Founder of the Forum for Shared Governance dated 24th of March, 2022.
The Baby-friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) was launched in 1991 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund, (UNICEF) in response to the 1990 Innocenti Declaration on the promotion, protection, and support of breastfeeding and aims to provide health facilities with a framework for addressing practices which have a negative impact on breastfeeding. (WHO. Int.) To be eligible for BFHI accreditation, healthcare facilities must have at least 75% exclusive breastfeeding rates among mothers at discharge, adhere to the International Code of Marketing Breast-milk Substitutes, and enforce the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, as specified by the joint WHO/UNICEF statement, “Protecting, promoting and supporting breastfeeding: The special role of maternity services”, DSFH is committed to promoting health through its initiatives which includes the successful BFHI reaccreditation. DSFH is the only private healthcare facility in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia to receive this honor from UNICEF, WHO, and MOH. The entire hospital staff is working together to support mothers and their children, with the goal of providing the best possible start in babies life.
