• Manages Chronic Illness: The most common long-standing conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, diabetes, hypertension, and allergies, recommend diagnostic tests for the evaluation and management of a chronic condition.
• Manages the Healthcare Team: A family physician helps in coordinating and referring the patient to a specialist or specialty-based practitioner if the health demands more focused attention. He stays involved and informed on referring to a specialist, thus following the role of a primary care physician.
